Recipe by Quaker Oats (My little grandson likes these. ;-) 1 cup (2 sticks) margarine or butter, softened 1-1/4 cups firmly packed brown sugar 2 eggs 2 tablespoons milk 2-1/2 cups Quaker Oats (quick or old fashioned, uncooked) 2 cups all-purpose flour 2 teaspoons baking powder 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon 1/4 teaspoon baking soda 1/4 teaspoon salt Flat wooden sticks Ready to spread frosting Assorted small candy pieces
Beat together margarine and sugar until creamy. Add eggs and milk; beat well. Add
combined oats, flour, baking powder, cinnamon, baking soda and salt; mix well. Cover; chill
about 2 hours.
Heat oven to 375 degrees. Shape dough into 1-1/2 inch balls. Place 3 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheets.
Insert wooden stick into side of each ball. Using bottom of glass dipped in sugar, flatten to a 2-1/2 inch
diameter. Bake 14 to 16 minutes or until golden brown. Cool one minute on the cookie sheet and then remove to a wire rack to cool
completely. Decorate as desired. Store in a tightly covered container.
