Taste of Home Cook Book
5 medium apples, peeled and sliced
TOPPING:
Divide apples evenly between two 9-inch pie plates coated with non-stick cooking spray; set aside.
In a mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking soda, cream of tartar, sour milk and eggs, mix well.
Divide batter and pour over apples.
Bake in a preheated 350 degree oven for 25 to 30 minutes or until pies are lightly browned and test done.
Invert onto serving plates (so apples are on top). Combine all the topping ingredients and sprinkle over apples.
Serve warm.
(*To sour milk, place 1 tablespoon white vinegar in a measuring cup; add enough skim milk to equal 1 cup. Let stand for 5 minutes.)
Nutritional Info according to the recipe above: TIP: This dessert is really good! I have also substituted strawberries or blueberries for the apples, 1 teaspoon apple or pumpkin pie spice for the cinnamon and nutmeg and baked all in a 10-inch pie pan. YUM! ;-)
