Peach Pudding

1/2 cup sugar
2 tablespoons flour
1/4 teaspoon salt
2 cups milk
2 egg yolks
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 box vanilla wafers
4 or 5 large peaches, sliced

Blend sugar, flour, salt and milk in a pot. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until thick. Cover and cook 15 minutes. Beat egg yolks and combine with a small amount of custard. Mix with remaining custard and cook two minutes longer. Remove from heat, add vanilla and cool. In a casserole, layer vanilla wafers, sliced peaches and the custard. Cover and refrigerate overnight.
